Aloma Wright is one of Hollywood's busiest character actresses with supporting lead roles in two current films. In The Brothers she plays the role of Bill Bellamy's mother, Helen and she plays Veda, Whoopi Goldberg's best friend in Kingdom Come. Next up is a role opposite Adam Sandler in Deeds. Other past film credits include Devil in the Flesh, Trippin' and the role of Pauletta in the blockbuster, Bring It On. Currently she is nominated for a LA Weekly Award for Best Actress in Live Theater for her role in Shakin' The Mess Out of Misery.

Television fans know her currently from her recurring roles on Ally McBeal and Judging Amy. On both programs she plays a tough courtroom judge. She has just completed a pilot for NBC entitled, Scrubs. In addition, Wright has guest starred on countless shows such as Frasier, Girlfriends, Providence, The Trouble With Normal, The Parkers as Nickie's mother, Malcolm in the Middle, the Drew Carey Show, The Steve Harvey Show as Lavita's great Aunt Tulabeth, Suddenly Susan, Friends and she appeared in the TV movie When Billie Beat Bobby. Recently she starred as Rae Dawn Chong's mother on a series Mysterious Ways.

A graduate of New York's perstigious American Academy of Dramatic Arts, upon graduation, she toured with Ain't Misbehavin'. Next was the touring show of The Gospel Truth with Jennifer Holiday, Tramaine Hawkins and Johnny Brown. Wright won two Drama Logue Awards, one in 1996 for her role in The Visit under the direction of Ted Lange and the other in 1997 for her work in From the Mississippi Delta. She was also nominated by the NAACP Image Awards for Best Actress in 1994 for First Breeze of Summer and again in 1997 for Four Queens no Trump.

Wright continues to work in theater amid a busy film and television schedule. She is a producer at the Stage 52 Theater in Los Angeles where shi is currently working on Jeffrey's Plan. She plans on performing a new Gus Edwards play in North Carolina during the summer of 2001 entitled Black Woman's Blues. Aloma Wright is very proud of her daughter who is a San Diego attorney and loves to spend time with her granddaughter.
