Season 5, Episode 23 - My Urologist

May 16, 2006

J.D. gets friendly with urologist Dr. Kimberly Wyatt (Elizabeth Banks). He thinks she's a newcomer to Sacred Heart, but she's actually been on staff since he started five years ago. One reason that he hadn't noticed her was because she was married, wedding ring proudly displayed. J.D. doesn't notice women who wear wedding rings. He brings her in to consult with one of his patients, Mr. Peters, who has renal carcinoma.

J.D. later finds out that Kim is now divorced, so he makes an aggressive move to pursue her. Back at the hospital he's about to make his move when Dr. Cox shows up. He questions why Mr. Peters isn't receiving the operation. Since he's a high risk patient, Dr. Cox surmises that Kim doesn't want to risk him dying on the operating table, thereby hurting her success rate. Kim pretty much admits it.

Disappointed about discovering who she really is, J.D. lets her know he thinks she hides behind her sparkling reputation when in reality she doesn't want anyone to get close to her. Continuing to wear her wedding ring since her divorce proves that she doesn't want any unwanted attention. Later, J.D. notices that Kim has operated on Mr. Peters. She later tells him in the cafeteria that she really cares what he thinks about her. Additionally, she takes of her wedding ring.

Meanwhile, Elliot is seriously considering dumping Keith. She wants to be with someone who doesn't get stepped on all the time. The break-up almost happens until Keith stands-up to Carla for berating Carla. When Elliot sees that he does have a backbone, she decides to stay with him.

Janitor and Dr. Kelso get into a mini-war. Janitor steals money from Dr. Kelso's house (partially on Kelso's orders) and Kelso retaliates by smashing the windows in Janitor's van. They call a truce when Dr. Kelso agrees to announce over the P.A. system that Janitor is one of the most brilliant men he's known.
